Tawarayama Pass Observatory

About 15km 20 min by car

An observatory along Prefectural Route 28. Following a short mountain path from the roadside parking lot, you can view the entire Aso area from the 710m-high observatory, including the Kuju Mountain Range, Mt. Komezuka, Aso Five Peaks, and both the northern and southern outer rim mountains.

Milk Road

About 20km 25 min by car

Milk Road is not the name of a single road, but a nickname for a route connecting prefectural roads. Named for the many ranches scattered around the area. Along the road is Daikanbo, known as a scenic viewpoint with panoramic views of the Aso Five Peaks and crater basin. Weather conditions may offer views of a sea of clouds below.
